BOWEN AND MAGGS
About us
Here at Bowen and Maggs Wedding Photography we believe two heads are better than one. That’s why we offer two photographers instead of one.
Just like you we understand the limitations of the single life that’s why we offer two photographers, working in tandem, to capture more highlights of your Big Day.
Both of us (Mark Bowen and James Maggs) have extensive photography experience through decades of work in the media. What’s more we believe in keeping things simple.

We don’t confuse a happy couple with a pair of fashion models. We won’t force you to pose for an endless series of photos while your guests are enjoying the hospitality.

Our style is much more laid back. We will let you tell us what you want and we won’t get in the way of you enjoying the best day of your life.

We capture events naturally as they unfold and should you wish to have more formal portraits taken of just the two of you we will ensure it’s an enjoyable experience.

We offer a quality, affordable experience and will provide you with a beautiful set of photos by which to remember your day.

We even have a straightforward pricing plan to make life simpler and we pride ourselves by offering an incredibly competitive package.

FAQ
How experienced are you?

James spent five years in London working on the picture desks of Action Images and Rex Features, two of the UK's largest independent photo agencies.
In 2004 he was appointed as a Staff Photographer on the Malvern Gazette and Ledbury Reporter. Three years later he become Senior Photographer at the Hereford Times, one of the UK's best-selling weekly newspapers. In 2015 he left to pursue a freelance career.
Alongside his press and PR work, he has worked as a wedding photographer for the past seven years covering weddings in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and South Wales.

Mark has had hundreds of photos published in the Ludlow Advertiser and the Hereford Times. His photos have also appeared in the Shropshire Star, Daily Star and Daily Mail and on the covers of the specialist IT publication Intelligent CIO. He has worked as the Chief Photographer on the what's-on website Herefordshire Live. and has photographed weddings across Herefordshire and Shropshire.

How much will it cost to hire you to photograph our wedding?

For 2021/22 you can hire us for a full day’s photography from bridal preparations to the end of the first dance for £1,500.
How will we receive the images?

All images will come on a USB stick, including files suitable for social media, presented in a beautiful wooden box.
You can print the images you and your family want, upload them to social media or create a special wedding day album with them if you so desire.

We will get every image you take?

You will get every single image that is up to standard but we won’t send you photos, for instance, of people blinking.
Do we have to pay you travel expenses?

For weddings within Herefordshire and Shropshire our travel expenses are included in the price. For weddings further away it’s possible there will be an additional cost for travel and overnight accommodation. This is something we can discuss.
How do I book? Should we meet before the wedding?

The only things you need to do are contact us, arrange a meeting and supply a deposit of £300. The remaining balance is due a month before the date of the wedding. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer. You can contact Mark by calling 07792697220 and James on 07941 330861.. Alternatively, you can email us on bowenandmaggs@gmail.com. We can then discuss a time and place to meet.

Are you insured?

Yes. We have both professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance.
How soon can we see the photos after the wedding?
As is it likely that there will be hundreds of images we aim to get them to you within a month after the wedding. However, if we finish editing the photos before that you will receive them sooner.
Do you take formal group shots of guests?

This is entirely up to you. Our focus is usually on reportage (documentary) style shots but the choice is yours. Due to time constraints we recommend we take no more than six or seven posed family group shots. You will need to decide whether we do this outside the wedding venue or at the reception venue but we can discuss this when we meet. We always ask couples in advance what shots they would like so we can plan for them.
Do you take posed portrait shots of just the two of us?

Again this is your choice. If you would like to do this we recommend you factor in at least 30 minutes after any formal posed group shots are taken following the wedding. Formal portraits would normally be taken after the ceremony but before the reception. They can be taken either at the wedding or reception venue.

Will we own the copyright to the photos?

Legally the copyright belongs to the photographer but you are entitled to unlimited personal use of the photos. We would ask couples to contact us should they wish to sell on the images commercially and we reserve the right to use photos for our own commercial purposes.
What happens if we have to cancel our booking?
The deposit is non-refundable but we will do my best to re-schedule to your new date. Unfortunately, this means if you cancel the booking and we cannot make the re-scheduled date the deposit will be lost.
